iPhone 4, Wins Best Mobile Device!

I received an invitation for the Mobile World Congress, in Barcelona. However, due to work, I was unable to attend. But that does not stop me from reporting the news from there to you. Especially when that news is Apple related!

The Mobile World Congress is a trade show geared towards mobile devices, much like CES
is for general electronics. The Congress portion of it's name represents the panel made up of Chief Executives from various mobile operators, content owners and vendors from around the world.

Each year they give out various awards to the mobile company, device, app or what ever that they vote to be the best of the year. This year Apple has taken home Best Mobile Device! And they did it despite not even showing up for the Congress! The mobile Congress has been quoted saying that it has a "great screen, sharp design, fantastic materials, and phenomenal ecosystem for app developers. In a tight race, the iPhone 4 built on the success of its predecessors to set the pace for smart phones."

Apple has a habit of not showing up for these type of events. Much like the CES, Apple thumbs their nose at the industry events and usually holds their own ont he same days.. or at least releases news on those days. But never the less, Apple continues to do well in the judging and in the Marketplace. They seem to be doing something right!

Angry Birds took home the awards for "Best Mobile App" And "App of the Year on the Apple Platform" for it's innovation and it's run away sales of more than 50 million!

I should mention that the HTC Desire was also given a special mention as "Highly Commended" and the Congress was  quoted as saying it "set the bar for Android phones across much of the world in 2010. Packed with great features, this is an enduring product that has performed consistently well."
