Hot on the heels of Verizon's announcement about the iPhone is even more Apple and Verizon goodness. Lost in the sea of comments and news about the Verizon iPhone, was this little bit of information. It is the natural next step that most of us in the industry expected to see. What else would you expect from a relationship with Verizon and Apple?That's right! A CDMA iPad! In an interview yesterday in New York, Verizon Communications, Inc. CFO Franicis Shammo said that the company has plans to sell a version of the iPad that can connect directly to their wireless network. It is expected that the release of the iPad2 will come in three flavors. A WiFi only model, a GSM model and a CDMA model.
This can only be a positive move for Apple. This will allow any carrier in the world, to eventually offer iPhones and iPads. Apple has already stated that their deal with Verizon is NOT exclusive. So we can expect to see a T-mobile and a Sprint iPhone and iPad in the next year as well!
Choice is always good for the consumer.
