Flash is coming to iOS!!

The Apple Adobe war looks like it is finally coming to an end and Adobe is the one who caved. Since the beginning, Apple has been adamant about not allowing Flash onto the iOS devices. Why? Well because Flash Is a memory hog!
Steve Jobs has been very vocal in the past as to the fact that Flash uses too much memory and is detrimental to battery life. Steve even went so far as to publish an open letter on the Apple website to Adobe called, Thoughts on Flash.

However, at the National Association of Broadcasters conference in Las Vegas, Adobe has stepped up their game. Considerably!! The newest version of Flash will make it work on iOS devices, without the need to install any other software! How is that you ask? Well it is very very complicated. But the long and short is, the new version of Flash with stream the videos over HTML in the event Flash is not detected.

A Quote from Adobe explains this a bit more in detail..
"we will be adding support for another format, HTTP Live Streaming (HLS). HLS is an MPEG2 transport stream (container) used by devices such as the Apple iPad 2. By adding support for HLS within the Flash Media Server, Adobe is reducing the publishing complexity for broadcasters who need to reach browsers supporting HLS through HTML5 (such as Safari) or devices where Adobe Flash is not installed. Where Flash is installed, Flash Media Server packages the stream using MPEG4-fragments (F4F) to deliver video over HTTP to Flash"

So to all those who have been waiting for Flash on the iPad or iPhone, it looks like your wait is finally almost over. Good Job Adobe. We knew you could step into the modern world.
